I finally decided to put them on a wire floor

The floor of my pen now is half wood, half wire. Straw in the wood part with little enclosed boxes for them to go in if they are cold. They have a sand box too They love the sand box. I might need to elevate the pen more than what it is now.

sand and gravel layered heavily would also discourage them.raccons are horrible they usaully wastevhalf the bid anyways.

Do the raccoons not like to step on sand and gravel?

not only are all my quail on 1/2" wire 4' off the ground but i ve also put 1/2" wire on the underside of the pens which are 2x3's so there is a 3" gap between wire's. No critter is gunna be grabbing feet

raccoons will step on anything , im sure that was ment for tunneling rats
