That sounds like a brilliant plan. You get all the joys in one fell swoop! DH will never notice. Just keep distracting him with the dogs.
If it helps, my silkies came all crammed up in a box full of standard chicks. Truthfully, the two of them ruled the brooder. HA! They may be little, but they are fiesty! I only separated them from the LF when one of the buff orps turned into a ginormous rooster and went through that awkward adolescent phase where they try to, ahem... luuvvvvv.... everything that can't get out of the way. The poor banties were getting smushed. I did try to reintegrate the silkies into a pen of standard ameraucanas later. The rooster loved them in that pen too. He would be doing the deed with one silkie while the other rushed in and attacked him. "Take THAT you brute!" Whack, whack, whack. Again, small but ferocious. As entertaining as it was watching a huge rooster get the snot beat out of him by a tiny little white silkie, it ended up just being easier to move them back into the banty pen. Sometimes love hurts.
YAY on getting the silkies, polish and turkens! Turkens ARE freaky!
