I FINALLY have a diagnosis - I have been confused

well tell your doctor anyways, just to be safe...maybe he has you 2 high a dose...or something...

I am afraid to type it out how stupid I am. I finally looked up everything online at webmd.com and called the office. The inhaler called Proventil is also albuterol and I didn't know that. I thought it was a maintenance drug - IT IS NOT. Advair is the maintenance drug. I have two inhalers so I can have one at home and one in my purse.

Color me stupid.

Debi-

The albuterol makes my pulse race and I shake...very much. On a day when I really really cant breathe, the albuterol doesnt give me the shakes or nothing- no matter how many hits of that inhaler I do. On a moderate day, oooh I vibrate.

This sounds kind of like my Dad. He was a life-long smoker, began as a young teen, smoked about 2 packs a day. I nagged him for years to quit and always got the "something's gonna kill me" response. Well, on February 18, 1993, at 54 years of age, he was having what he thought was terrible heartburn. I know this because he was at my house complaining of his heartburn while I was complaining of my heartburn due to being almost 2 weeks overdue with my 2nd baby. That night I went into labor and the next day my parents came to visit me and their new grandson in the hospital. The next day I went home and saw my parents again. The next day I got a phone call from my mother saying that my Dad had been having a heart attack for 3 days and was in the hospital. THANK GOD it was a mild heart attack, but it scared him enough that he quit smoking cold turkey. I'm very happy to say that I had dinner with my parents tonight. I've had 16 more years with my Dad that may not have been possible to have with him had he not been scared into quitting smoking.
