WELCOME and THANK YOU for your kindness to a sweet chicken. In my experience with my chickens and geese and ducks, I truly believe that if they are loved and well cared for, they just don't "run away." You are a very kind person to work with the chicken and take her in to a safe place. Pray that her next family loves and REALLY cares for her.
Thanks everyone. I went to the shelter and visited our little EE and other than a small limp she is doing pretty good. She is going into a foster home with a lady that has chickens and will stay with her until they get her health back to 100% and then find a her a new suitable home. The ladies at the shelter said she is a very sweet hen and lets them carry her around.
I had never been around chickens. And didn't realize how great they can be. Once I get settled, I may end up having some back yard chickens. I travel out of town a lot for work and have a cat and a dog. I usually take my dog with me but the cat isn't that easy. Its hard enough to find someone to take care of a cat, I don't know anyone that would be able to tend to a chicken. And the first thing I thought of when I thought I was going to have to take the EE home is, how would I keep my cat from terrorizing her.
I really feel like she is going to find herself a good home and lay pretty eggs all the rest of her life.
