I found a duck egg?

Oh and I simply too a Styrofoam cooler with a lsmall heater in front of a hole carved on the side and I have a very precise laser thermometer to double check the temperature, I should maybe get a light bulb but as the temperature is pretty stable and the heater provides ventilation and I can control the intensity, I am wondering if I should or wait to order an incubator...
you will want a stbile temp, are you turning it regularly?
it does look like it is developing
sounds like you will want a way to get the humidity up for lock down
do you know what kind of ducks are in your area?

Yes every 30 minutes I am monitoring the temperature and 4-5 times a day turning it a bit, I am home for 7 days so it's possible for me to take care of it properly. For the humidity that's exactly what I want, I want it to be stable and so I don't have to spray the egg all the time.
Yes, I am in Mississauga Canada and the species that I see nearby are Mallards and sometimes Canadian Goose but their eggs are way bigger as I saw on google, I also saw one beautiful waterfowl but they are rare in my area.

awesome, can you post a picture of your incubator?
we might be able to help you with the humidity part

and are you planning on keeping the duck? you may want to look into if that is legal in your area or you could risk it
also they like company, so you may want to look for a friend for it later

Sure! So the first picture was my first attempt of an incubator and the second is the final idea, so at the back there is a hole abnd that's where I put my heater in front of and the egg is snuggled in the little blanket. I would like to keep the duck, it's not technically legal but nobody cares in my area and especially because the egg was abandonned and I am practically saving it (knock on the wood). Thanks again so much for your help!

Nice! It's good for keeping the temperature stable, what I use now is this laser thermometer, it's very precise but I need to "shoot" the egg each time I want to know the temperature.excellent, I will add them to my shopping list :)

Wow thank you for the link, very interesting! I don't know how old the egg was when I found it but I go there every day and it wasn't there the day before so I guess it was pretty fresh (also did a water candling when I found the egg and it was sinking).
