As the title says... I found a free to good home add online today!

'To give away 2 geese 1 male 1 female great pets inbox if interested'

It was on a facebook - things for sale page that is local to me. There were some geese advertised for sale the other week in my local newspaper and I was soooo tempted. I couldn't help but jump at this add! I sent the woman a message, got her number and called her! They are going to be mine!

I was just lucky that I was in front of the computer at the time! As soon as I sent the woman a message about 4 other people quickly asked if they could have them!!

She had no idea what type of geese they were when I asked. They were her backyard (3 acres) pets and kept getting into her garden. Her husband has convinced her that they need to go. She originally paid $50 each for them! The girl is called Abby - the lady got her first. She originally purchased 2 females and then a fox got one... So she purchased the boy as a new friend for Abby.

Abby is just under 12 months of age and Ollie the drake is around 6 months old.

I think they are Pilgrim geese? I don't know much about geese and I haven't seen these guys yet but she sent me a photo on my mobile! (edited to zoom in). They look beautiful

If the weather is cooler tomorrow and my husband isn't busy in the evening (after 6pm when she has caught them for bed time) we will be going to pick them up! I can't wait!

OMG. Why don't these wonderful things happen to me, ever? Stoopid stuff for free in my local CL. <*kicks curb*>

I know nothing about geese breeds except that I have a pair of Toulouse geese and that buff one looks very similar to mine.

they look like my Pilgrims, but I'm no expert. Pilgrims are about 50.00 each here in the States.
You should really enjoy them!

Hmm interesting on the 'toulouse' guesses... she does look a bit like one doesn't she? All I know is that they both came from the same breeder. I want to try and track her down! Once I get them I'll get plenty more pictures up.

I can't wait to get them home. Might be a day or 2 still because it's a bit warm here to be carting animals around!

MmmM popcorn! It has been that warm here I don't have much of an appetite!

It was about 106*F (or 41*C in my world) in the house at 8pm last night. Yuk!!!! Today it's a lot nicer at only 93*F... but still warm for the animals outside. Finally the blistering sun has gone behind some clouds... so hopefully we will only get cooler from here on it!

I think I'll pick up my new geese tomorrow or Tuesday night. Need my hubby and his ute so I'll have to be nice to him so I can convince him to do it after work!

Time for me to take a stroll outside to check on all the critters!
