I found a light green egg today. Do I have an EE ? CAUGHT HER !!

Quote:
My thought exactly on the first pic. She was one of three we got at an auction for 2 bucks each !!

The roo does have a beard, he is really cool. He was from the "chick days" at Hirsch feed store. The one in the fore ground that looks like a roo, maybe a hen. It is pretty young yet.

The pullet does have a muff. I do not remember where we got this one.

I was also going to guess the first hen. Here's a pic of my EE with my Silver Laced Cochin.

It was me...Santa Seuss...okay, so my last name has some letters switched from the man with the green eggs and ham...but that is why I bought EE's..so I can eat green eggs and ham for breakfast.

My two girls look like hawks or falcons. They look like some wild bird came in and mated with my chickens. They both have slate legs, not yellow like the others, and not grey like a silkie...kind of green tinted slate. And one has a very pronounced beard, and the other just has like little lamb chops going on on the side of her face.

See this pullet? Look like an Easter Egger? Well, she qualifies. No beard, no muffs, etc. Panda's parents are one of my BR roosters, Zane, and my older blue Ameraucana hen, Charlotte. She lays green eggs (brown+blue=green eggs). She has a half sister in California who lays green eggs that does have a beard and muffs--same mother, different father (but still BR).

Forgot to say that on occasion, you will get an Ameraucana or an Easter Egger with no beard or muffs. A few that hatched from my trio were like that. It's a fault in the Ameraucanas, certainly, but EEs come in all colors, shapes and types.

I went out to the barn this morning and low and behold the little lady had JUST laid an egg. I caught her !! Yep, it was the first pic of the one in my Original post. and the one that looks like UrbanChickenMama's EE.

She is a wonderful hen. Freindly and good natured. Glad to have her in the flock.

Some EE's have greenish tinted legs. However, my girl who lays a nice sage colored egg has slate colored legs. Here's a picture of her:

Thanks so much for your post! I have a Black Star, Sex Linked that is laying green-blue colored eggs as well. I was not 100% that she was the layer, and all the information I could find said that she should lay brown eggs. Your post allowed me to stop endlessly searching!! THANKS!
