In this month's Birds and Blooms magazine (which I believe is availble to read online) they had an awesome one made from a glass coke bottle, copper wire and some red beads.
Also a little "handheld" feeder. It was made of a short piece of PVC with red soda bottle caps on each end; with a spout attached to one cap. The creator said if you were patient enough you could hold it up and the hummers would come to feed from it.
