I Found WHITE TRUFFLES In My Flower Bed!!

I found more! I just went out and took the hoe and the first scoop under the pine tree at the flower bed unearthed several more small truffles! I am fixing to dig up my whole yard LOL

They aren't very large. The largest one is about an inch and a half wide/tall. The small ones are the size of a peanut.

I am defiantly going to cook them in something. I have never had real truffles so we'll see just how good they really are

Really??? Where would I sell them?

Andy, I don't know what they taste like yet. I haven't tried one. I was waiting to find a recipe to try them on.

You can sell them to restaurants that use them in their foods. I watched it on Cash & Treasures on the Travel Channel and several pounds can go for quite a bit. You might be able to find out how on their website.

High dollar reastaurants should want them.

I watched one show where they had pigs finding them! They would walk with the pig and find the trufffels!! Trained pig, normal pig would eat them!!lol

Maybe they can fund some new chickens...?? Or horses LOL

I will have to check into that. I think we are going to eat these though, since we haven't ever had any. I am excited to have found some.

A classic French dish is roasted chicken stuffed with thinly sliced truffles. Jacques Pepin does one that is the bomb... You wash and pat dry a whole chicken, then slide your fingers between the skin and the breast meat on the outside and insert very thin slices of truffle. Repeat on the other side... Baste with melted butter and a little brandy or Grand Mariner... My mouth waters just remembering seeing him do stuff like that. Here's a great video of one of his shows. The guy is a Master

PS keep the truffles and cook with them. What a restaurant would give you for them is not worth the trouble. Store them in a small plastic zipper storage bag along with a 1/2 cup of uncooked white rice. After you have used all the truffles up cook the rice... Never waste a flavor. I'm off to make a banana cream pie from scratch...

Happy Cooking !!!

I want to try the chicken recipe you mentioned, that sounded really good.

I am going to put them in the hubbys/kids scrambled eggs in the morning. I can't wait to get reviews!

I went digging again and found lots more! There are a ton of truffles here in my yard. I do live out in the woods though, maybe that has something to do with it. I bet I 4 or 5 oz of them now. They are all about the size of a ping pong ball down to peanut size.
