I gave in and started eggs today! Anyone else due around the 13??

I am so happy for everyone! As for mine not much only day 19th though. Out of 28, 1 cracked and leaked got rid of it but of course it was a blue/splash ameraucana egg. Anyway still praying for some babies.

ok so I did a big no no and helped a chick out. It's been 24hrs and didnt make much progress and it's peeps and movement were getting less and less.It was real weak at first but now is getting stronger.I think my humidity was alittle low 65% because the membrane was trying out quick.I think thats why that one had a hard time.I added more water with a straw threw the vent hole and got it up to 75% and seems to be helping.I'm sweating bullets!

If mine aren't out by tomorrow, I may have to add water or help them too! How long after they pip until they zip? I have two pips now, but I am worried about the second one to pip, it is pipping on the small end of the egg. Is that bad?

1st hatch so sorry for all the questions. I really appreciate the help!

B patient!!

Mine I only assisted the one as a last resort for that one.I was VERY lucky I didn't kill it in the process and all the others because I had to open the bator for a second.NOT GOOD! The membrane had dried out because of my humidity being a tad low and it was pipped enough it's beak was exposed to the point it couldn't reposition itself I think.I took a huge risk!! They could take 24 to even 48hrs from pip to zip.
Whats your humidity at sportsterchick?
No they shouldn't pip at the small end.Could be why you don't see zip.

I'm new at this so someone with more experience maybe can help better.

Well...... to be honest, I don't know what my humidity is at

I have a Brinsea Mini and it doesn't tell humidity. Plus there isn't room for my hygrometer in there with the eggs. Now...I do have the hygrometer beside the bator and it is almost 60% just in my house. It has been very rainy here today. SO.......what do you think? Enough? Surely.

Yeah I would say.Just busy yourself should be fine.I have 9 of the 40 hatched out and see a couple slowly zipping. So frustrating but trying to stay away from the bator as much as possible
