I GIVE UP ...** UPDATE **

well after cracking open the eggs and seeing those poor little babies - I am more determined thn before to get this right - I know they were growing so I was heading in the right direction.

DH really want to try duck eggs again - since we know our girl was breeding - but the only eggs I have are from the frig - so what the heck we are going to give them a try - since one of the lost babies was also a frig baby.

we are going to do a few things different - moved the bator into a closet, going to hold the temps alittle lower, get a second Accrite - keep one in the wiggler one without ??

and try try try again

Also make sure they are in a place that isnt affected by temp changes--my LG is VERY sensitive to temp changes outside the incubator. We have ours in a pantry that is smack dab in the middle of our house, no windows, breezes or anything.

Really, it is VERY sensitive to ambient temps!!

Good luck.

Good point! I have mine in an extra room downstairs. We're very frugal and keep the house cold in the winter. It gets down to 57 in that room, so before I started the eggs, I went and bought a cheap but heavy duty heater ($20 at TSC), and this keeps the room at an amazingly stable 68F and 45% humidity. I keep the door closed so no one goes in there (I have 3 dogs and a cat), only me and my daughter for turning.

So sorry. That is so heart breaking. Happy to hear you are gonna try again.
Sheesh, I got all teary eyed.

when i was holding the eggs before we opened then i was scared to look- but she said that it would bother me NOT looking - in a way she is right but the sight of those helpless babies killed me i started to cry for them- it is still bothering me I am so scared to try again, but I am determined to get it right and have some little fuzzybutts to love and spoil

I will watch this bator well...umm like a hawk LOL

I'm so sorry to hear about your babies. I had the same problem, but, our power went off and my temp went down. When I checked them in the morning it was 90. I don't know what the temp was in the middle of the night. I did covered them. This is my first time also. I'm sure we will have better luck next time.

well after a restless night - I keeped checking the bator and it seemed to be holding fine - nd my duck laid another egg this morning so after it warmed up I slipped it in there also - so this time around there are 7 eggs.

thank you all for the advice and the encouragement to keep going - it really did bother me more than I thought it would to see the babies when I opened the eggs, but I am going to give it my shoot I really want some fuzzybutts to love !!

so sorryto hear about your hatch ginbart - lets hope we both have babies soon !
