Hi everyone I'm new here. I live in Central Missouri and,

I am losing my mind. I really screwed up this time. I put 140 eggs in my Sportsman incubator on 3/4/2010 and never turned the turner on. I went to candle the eggs today and it was off. It's been 2 weeks now. Most of the chicks are forming in the eggs and I have them rocking now.

What do you think? Is there a chance some of them will hatch? Only a week to go now for them to be due to hatch, and I will know then but I would like to know what you all think....I will keep you informed...Bob

You never know what you can do until you try....

Perhaps some of them will hatch.

You might as well see what happens..........(???)

Hens let eggs "build-up" in a nest BEFORE they decide to "brood". So, therefore, I think you MIGHT be allright.

Let us know how it turns out.

Im probably the least qualified person to answer this but i would plug it in and see what happens...

I just read that hens lay eggs in a series of about 20 to 30. When they begin to "run low" they begin the setting process. All are incubated from the day she begins to set on her eggs so all hatch at the same time even though she layed them on different days. Some of those eggs were 20-30 days old before she began to keep them warm. I am sure that some of your eggs will hatch and can't wait for the news! Good luck!

You will probably have more die in the shell this time. They will grow, the temp and humidity does that, you will likely only know the "damage" when they hatch. Since they are already developing embryos, the concern is that they will stick to the side of the shell. That is the reason they need to be turned once incubating. I have made this same mistake once and though I had a lower hatch rate, I still had a decent turn out. Best of wishes.

Well It wasn't a total loss but it cut my hatch way down......
I got 40 chicks so far I could possiably get a few more , that figures a little over 28% hatch. It could have been worse.

Glad for the 40, though! Congrats on those!
