Well if it happens often I am sure you have read about it, which makes me belive that they don't. If you read anything about raising pheasant there is cannabalism sections on every guide.

It works that way with most caged animals - especailly over crowded fowl that are omnivors.

I did not check the bator before bed last night. This morning my kids were squealing in delight. 2 of Sam's coturnix have hatched and more are pipped. They are so tiny!

Tori, what in the world do I do with them now? Put them in the brooder with a heat lamp?

Stacey, they are about 1/5th to 1/4th the size of a newly hatched chicken. LOL Tiny.

Give them a couple hours and they'll be zooming faster than the chicks you're used to.

**Beware of the waterers. Especially if using a chick waterer, fill it with rocks like crazy. Quail are distasters waiting to happen. Only leave holes small enough they can get those tiny beaks into and nothing else.
