I got a new puppy! *Pic* Please help me guess the breed.

Well, curiosity got me, so I opened her mouth (she wasn't too excited about that). I didn't really expect to see anything because she's still young, but there it was...a big black splotch toward the back of her tongue! I was only seeing the pink tip before, that splotch was hiding way back there, so I guess there is definitely SOME Chow in her. And I still agree with the GSD, too, but there could still be other breeds in the mix, including Sheltie or Collie.

Whatever she is...she is awesome and I just love her! She's calm and sweet and hardly makes any noise. I've only heard one tiny bark from her, and that was when she wanted my Chihuahuas to play with her. They are NOT amused by this intruder...LOL. I've already introduced her to the chickens and she seems pretty good with them too. Of course, she will only be allowed near them while supervised until I can completely trust her!

My first thought was "Sheltie Mix" but I see German Shepherd markings too. How large is she and what age?

At any rate, she is absolutely adorable! All my dogs (3) are rescues too and they are absolutely wonderful. I had a chow/husky mix when I was growing up and she was super sweet too. I think rescued dogs realize that they have been rescued and appreciate their people the more for it.

Yep, Spots on tongues can be in any breed. They are like birthmarks on people.

I say no chow. Shepherd mix and agree with a sable coat. Her spine with start to get black and fill in slowly downward.
Like with our chicks, wait till she is older to try and determine breed.

Either way she is going to be gorgeous! Congrats.

I would say this is a Chow mix. A whole litter of pups came into our local shelter about 8 years ago. The mother was a purebred Chow Chow, and the father was an all around mixed breed. Of the 5 pups, 2 looked Chow like, while the others had flat coats and looked more like Shelties with purple tongues. Their facial structures did not at all resemble the Chow, but, I knew they were at least 1/2 as the mother was surrendered with them.
