Thats what I keep telling my wife. She's catching up to me on the free chick line so now I'm looking for a free incubator.

Red&Yellow :

Okay, so I stand very corrected...never seen a Welsummer chick...

My understanding is they are kinda rare.

The adults look very partridgey so that makes total sense that they would look like the Rocks of the same patterning.

I should have said about where they came from in the first place - I am sorry. I am just so excited I am kinda getting ahead of myself.

Thank you so much for your input!

I agree #1 does look Welsummer'ish, does not look to be pure....but it's a boy for sure.....

I don't think that #2 is a Blue Orpington unless it is a mix of Orp and Marans but Orps don't have feathered legs...looks like a Marans to me....this little chick is also a boy..

Don't know what #3 is but she looks like such a sweetie pie!

Great shot of #4 who is also a boy

Ok, if y'all are right about boyness it looks like I have 6 roos and 1 pullet. Wonderful.

I was wondering if #2 could be a Marans, do they come in blue? I have been trying to figure out which breeds have lightly feathered legs and Marans is all I have been able to come up with.

I am going to try and take a picture of the two different "types" of Welsummers and see what y'all think - OK:

the chick from the OP is in the foreground and the other "type" is in the background.

now he is in the foreground:

and here he is with a profile shot. I pretty much have 2 of the more feathered type and two of this, less feathered, type. They all hatched at the same time.

I am so new to this - is it possible for them to be at such different development stages and all be the same sex? Thank you all for you patience with me!

I'm going to say:

Chick #1 Looks like it could be a welsummer and it looks to be a girl. Females feather in with reddish coloring on their chest (called salmon coloring) and males feather in with black on their chest.
Chick #2 I'm not sure, could be blue marans with the feathered legs or maybe a standard cochin?
Chick #3 I think it's a BLR Wyandotte
Chick #4 Cuckoo Marans? It's a boy for sure.
