I'm fairly new to chickens but from what I have read, Ameraucanas and Araucanas are recognized breeds with only certain colors or other characteristics allowed. EEs are basically mutts which carry the blue egg gene (which produces green or blue eggs) from one or both of these breeds. EEs must have been an outcross using Ameraucana or Araucana bloodlines with the goal being a colored egg producer (maybe at a cheaper price or without some of the genetic problems of a purebred?). That is the best I can understand it anyhow. Perhaps someone else has a better idea of how / why they were created.

Very cute chicks!! I have one in the brooder now that looked like your little striped one. I have no idea what color they will end up being though. My first time with EEs!
