Congratulations. It really is a great buck. As sourland said above...here in NY that would also be a 6 pointer. I guess you don't count the two brow tines?

Hey NYboy your question is a tough one to give a definite answer to so I'll try to explain as best as I can.
A yearling buck will probably have what we call buttons as antlers ( tinny antlers that barely protrude out passed his fur).
A 1 to 1 and 1/2 year old may have just 2 spiked antlers or they may have a small but many pointed rack( 4,5,6,7 points and so on) it is all dependent on genetics and diet.
As a buck ages their antlers tend to get more points and grow larger in length.
The opposite can occur as a buck goes passed his prime age. The antlers will still have great mass but the number and length of points tend to decrease with old age. Hope this helped answer your question. By the way White Plains is but 40 min south of me. We are practically neighbors.

According to Boone & Crocket scoring the brow tines have to be over an inch. On this deer it depended on which side you measured them on. One side they were right at an inch the other not. Sharon missed before so hopefully this will take the jitters out next year. I was bragging at work today.... "My wife the killer" lol
