I got my first egg today!

Mine started laying about a week ago (well, before that, really, but they hid them under/behind the ramp). Now we are eating eggs regularly (cute little tiny ones). I didn’t realize it at first, and when I finally got the oyster shell to them you’d have thought they were starved!

The feed store was out. I gave them crushed egg shell instead but seems it wasn’t enough. Now they are happy but they do love that oyster shell!

Congratulations!! First egg is thrilling!! I’m still thrilled about eggs!

I always thank them when I take out eggs. My pullets are so gentle I can pet them or even pick them up from the nest box. I try not to do it too much so they don’t think I bother them every time.

My Orpingtons eat oyster shell like it’s scratch! I put it out every day and they gobble some down. Funny things!
