wtg My Barb laid her first egg today too. Now I'm just waiting on my last girl to lay.

Congratulations! It's such a cool feeling, isn't it? Two of my girls are giving me eggs now - Dora every day but Delia isn't on a daily schedule yet. Waiting for the other four girls to start. I love going out and finding eggs in the nests!

As of today 10 of my 15 light Brahmas are laying, averaging 9/10 eggs a day. I can hardly keep myself from camping out in the barn and waiting for the eggs to be laid! I did witness the actual laying a couple of times..my girls start sitting in the nest box but then slowly stand, stretching their necks out and then I hear a little "thud" as the egg hits the shavings in the box.

My husband thinks I'm crazy because I love to watch them and make of them every time I enter the coop. They greet me at the door w/some of the girls squatting in front me. I don't have a rooster so I guess they consider me their alpha roo. They peck at my shoes and pant legs begging for treats and when I bend over to pet them they jump up at the buttons of my barn jacket. I love the Brahma breed..they are soooo friendly. I can walk up to most of them and pick them right up and all enjoy a pet or scratch. They are so friendly that I have to be careful where I walk as I often end up stepping on the feathers on their feet.

I would love to post pictures of my hens and their eggs but I'm not sure how to do it. Maybe one of you could help me with this. I do have one of my girls as my avatar picture. I think she is beautiful! They are all beautiful in my eyes! LOVE my girls!
