I was watching the silkies and baby polish chicks before I started cleaning up the brooder half of my baby coop and the silkies and polish were all snuggled up together after their afternoon mash with the fence between them... so I took a chance and opened the partition...
They instantly paired off, two littles under one and this little under this one. It was amazing watching the silkies nudge and arrange the babies under their fluff, making adorable little purring noises. The littles are too young to be without the brooder heat at night, and the silkies too young to be trusted as full time caregivers, but it was a sweet moment until I disturbed them with the flash here, but she settled right back with the wee one while I finished up!
