Been a chicken dad since December 15th. I did my homework. My 4 girls have it made. A secure coop with 4 nesting boxes that they never crap in. With a solar exhaust and supply fan from Amazon. They don't crap in the coop except when on the roosting bars and the crap gets cleaned up everyday. The coop sits on a solid concrete floor cover with river bed sand, pine shavings and wood pellets. I have an Omlet door(battery) that opens and closes per my settings. The run is 6 x 10 with a corrugated metal roof covering. Has a dirt floor covered in river bed sand. There is 1/2" hardware cloth covering the coop windows and run, with an 18" hardware cloth apron along the perimeter. There is shade cloth on the south side and west end. Plus I have bamboo fencing in the southwest corner for extra shade. I also have a 4 ft perimeter fence from https://www.premier1supplies.com/ for them to "free range" all day long.(not in the picture) They also have a paper bark tree for shade where they do their dust bathing and afternoon naps. Am I bragging? yes. Am I gonna have issues down the road? probably but hopefully not. My girls are sort of "pets" but they are definitely not livestock. Now go do the right thing.
