Coons around a coop is nothing but trouble!

DH reset the trap and set the whole shabang back up. Humm, wonder what we will catch tonight. Maybe nothing or maybe Mr. Coon. Assuming that was Mrs. Coon. Saw a whole family cross the street couple nights ago just down the road. Hope we discourage any hopes they had of moving in and thinking they are gonna have an all you can eat chicken and turkey buffet. Gotta keep them buggers out of the garden too. Chicken, corn and taters are NOT on the menu for anyone but me and the fam.

Wow! I'd hate that! Can you live trap them and shoot them, or is that illegal, too? SSS is a wonderful thing....

You can live trap and shoot.

You just can't use "body gripping" traps like snares and conibears.

And the banning wasn't just that people considered it cruel to wildlife either...too many morons were setting them and forgetting them, and catching people and pets too.

This is why we can't have nice things.

My neighbor's cat - indoor cat that got out - was caught in a trap that some idiot set in the park. The cat had to have its leg amputated.

Please everybody, REMEMBER--Conibears cause TORTUROUS deaths and limb losses, and NOT just to the intended animal!

An ENORMOUS number of dogs, cats, and other animals suffer in them. More and more communities are banning them.

A predator-proof chicken coop works wonders to protect your flock, and a hose works just FINE to get poop off a deck!

one more coon down! I AIM for them and opposums when I see them on the road. An opposum got hit, not by me this time, a couple weeks ago by my house and I guess my aunt who lives close by stopped to move it off the road and it had babies. One was dead and two were still alive under the mom. Now my cousin is a oppossum daddy and is raising these two disgusting little creatures. I warned him they better not be turned loose near me. It absolutley disgusts me to watch them crawl around all over him like they are baby kittens or something!

I think I may need to look into getting one of those traps. If someone in my family finds something in my live trap before I do, they turn it loose!

Seriously?

Stay out of the P&P section if the discussion offends you.

Oh wow, that's a mess. We have issues like that with rabbits. They are eating our feed and so overpopulated you can't walk 20 feet on our property without tripping over a rabbit. They're not even scared of us anymore. Our landlords won't let us put out poison for them, or shoot them unless we do it "legally"...we called Fish and Game, and legal means a $30 hunting license, but...we can't shoot within a quarter mile of a building, even our own. They just said to live trap and release the rabbits elsewhere. So, we would be left to spend $5 in gas money for each rabbit and over an hour every day to trap and release a couple of rabbits, when they are reproducing at a faster rate than we can relocate? Argh. I want to trap a hundred of them and "relocate" them to the parking lot of Fish and Game! lol This in the state where it is legal to carry a concealed weapon with no permit...you can take your gun to the grocery store, but you can't shoot a bunny in the backyard. And since the landlords are my husband's parents, and live on the property as well, we can't just shoot and shut up.
