There seems to be an outbreak of armpit "lumps". I'm in Texas, and it seems like it all began a year or so ago -- people developing them, and it's still going on. Don't know where the contamination is coming from, but do know deodorant will aggrivate it and make it worse. Using plain ol milk of magnesia as a deodorant works for some people, but for a few folks it can be an irritant. It's best to forget the deodorant until the "lump" is completely healed.

A year ago, I had patients with the problem, and later I developed it. One of my sons developed it recently and is under treatment now. Hardly a day goes by that I don't hear someone has that problem now. Some patients are even developing the lumps in the chest area along with the armpits. One of my sisters developed a case like that and the MD really gave her a fright telling her it was cancer, and fatal. I took her to the Medical School and got that straightened out real fast. She's fine. No it wasn't cancer, and all the tests came back negative.

"Lumps" like that can mean a lot of things, but there doesn't seem to be any real answers to this current "armpit lumps" issue right now.

Just don't scrub your underarms when you bathe and forget using soap in your underarms until the problem gets under control. Hot baths you can lay down in help. Pat dry and use a cornstarch based bath powder on your armpits if you really have to use something. Don't wear clothing that will rub against your armpits. A soft men's t-shirt is good to wear under your clothing while the misery is going on. And see a doctor. It's a treatable condition.

I work at the American Cancer Society, and we have a 24/7 hotline you can call to get help if you have a breast symptom like a lump and need to get diagnostic tests like a mammogram. They can also point you in the direction of coverage to pay for treatment costs if it did turn out to be anything (most breast lumps are not serious, but better to know for sure).

Same number can be used to call for answers to questions about cancer (prevention, detection, treatment info, etc) and to get referrals to programs to help with stuff like transportation, financial assistance, medical equipment, etc...

There are so many benign and minor things this could be. Do not really worry until you know you have something to worry about. You are taking the correct steps.

. I have already had a team of doctors tell my parents their daughter was dying (1986) and they had done all they could for me. That was half my lifetime ago now! WOW! I am old! LOL

My snowskiing accident was the first time ANYthing really bad had ever happened to me. Gosh I just shared our marriage testimony very recently and here I am telling y'all my VERY first ever testimony. ANYWhOO, I KNOW I am not to die until Jesus says so, and that is that! Doctors fell down from their pedistal for me in 1986 and I do not believe their diagnosis when "they" determine to play god! UNLESS God says it or allows it, it is NOT gonna happen!

God must of heard all y'alls prayers cause I have an appt at 9 in the morning! The lady setting my appt could NOT believe there was an appt available! See prayer changes things!!! She thought it would be next week at the earliest. Hugs to all of you who prayed!

I am praying for us all, men and women, young and those older, we ALL have needs! I pray that God would heal all of us in whatever way we have need, be it body, soul or spirit! (physical, mental or spiritual). I believe God wants His children to be healthy and whole.

OH! I have got to tell you this!!! My husband told the director about my situation (he and his wife are friends of ours) he shared it with his wife and she gave me the name of the Woman Center I am scheduled with. Anyway, looks like God has taken care of the inital cost! the ministry my hubby works for is going to cover the cost of the first visit! Praise GOD!!!!

I HAVE noted the resources given in the post, thank you, thank you, thankyou!!! .... If needed I will use them, if not I will pass them on to someone else in need.

I am blessed so much by all of y'alls prayers & info, know that I am praying that the blessing I receive be returned to bless you 10 fold!!! God is just SOOOOOO very good!
