then the trouble continues cuz u come on here and talk to ppl that are soo nice and helpful and understanding and u get all excited about what theyre talkin bout and u want more so u can share in the fun of having lots...i have only a few all the same breed but hearing others talk about how diff the breeds can be makes me want to get some of a few breeds so i can have the fun of sussing out my fav 1!...1st u get the chicks, then u get chick fever, then u come on here and get a BYC flu....next thing u know ur completely taken over with "the illness"....

PS. It's supposed to be in the low 50s today! I'm so eggs-cited to go out and scoop the chicken coop today! Yeah, I'm weird...I love spending time with my chickens even if it's scooping poop.

It's too easy to say “it takes as much effort to feed one as it does to feed 30”. That one got me in a lot of trouble, now I have 130+ and 2 sportsmans are full.

I've been on ebay. SHHHHHH don't tell anyone, I may have to pay more!! I looked at eggbid but those prices are rediculous. Plus the eggs I want I wouldn't buy from the person selling for my own personal, on my soap box reasons.

I gotta clean poo today too. Plus I am sooooo psyched cause we moved out month olds to the converted outside brooder and everyone was up and kicking this morning!

I was worried about the temperature change from our bathroom to the out of doors.

Oh, it's a sickness alright. I had no idea back when I ordered our first 12 little puffballs from the hatchery, just so we could raise them for eggs in a cage-free environment.

First came the rooster, to protect them. Then it was a batch of 25 more layers from the hatchery, because the original 12 didn't put out enough eggs for us during the winter.

Then we bought the incubator.

Now we have three coops in separate chicken yards. More than 50% of our property is devoted to chickens. And speaking of chickens, we have about 80 right now, of varying ages. There are 42 eggs in the incubator (because I can't resist buying local eggs and sticking them in the bator for some "fresh blood" in the flock), and 42 more coming in the mail in a couple of weeks.

Yeah, it's bad.
