Oh, this makes me so sad! I don't blame you, I would be devastated to give up my birds.

I'm sure they got a great home, but of course you'll miss them a lot regardless... They're pretty girls. Sending you lots of e-hugs, I hope you feel better soon.

I wished you could have found a nice rental home that the landowner can let you have in a chicken friendly city. A big deposit would be required, that's for sure!

When I moved out to WI from CA, I had to give up my small flock, lucky we had friends with a small farmmette and they gave them a great home.
I boarded my horses at a farm for 4+ years before even thinking of getting a small flock. A friend of mine (no longer) thought it would be good to get some
polish bantam chicks, so we did.. I fed them, she never paid for anything but the chickens she bought... After a time, I found most of hers homes
and got types I wanted.. I have 20 now, about half and half bantams and large chickens.

It can happen again for you, in time... {{{{HUGS}}}}

We're on a month to month lease at the moment and our landlord's making noises about raising the rent... just got back from a couple MONTHS vacation in Europe, but he needs the cash.

Wife is nagging saying he'd get a lot more for this house... well, YEAH IF it was fixed up... thousands in repairs... then yes you could get $100-$300 more, like the other rentals in the area...

He called last night, on about 7 wanting to come in right then with an insurance guy (switching companies).. here I am halfway through nitpicking DD's hair, my own sticking up everywhere, house a mess... No Way... ask if we can do this Friday (give me all day Thurs and part of Fri)... nope the Insurance Guy is leaving town 7am Friday so it has to be Thursday, no later than 5... we've got karate 4:30-5:30 so DH is going to have to leave work early so they can come inspect the house... less than 24 hours notice and not really a dern thing we can say because if we miff him he raises the rent (may do so anyways) and we have to move... have to move with 1 month or less notice what are the odds we'll find a place with 3 bedrooms, $700/month and willing to take on 3 (small) dogs, 4 chickens (and space for a coop so we need a yard), and one fish... not to mention deposits for said new place, changing utilities (just signed a 12 month with electric), not to mentoin packing everything...

So, yeah... we suck it up and deal... random no notice drop ins, leaking shower, hole in the garage ceiling, NO oven.... we deal. Oh, and let's not forget the neighbor's dog who tried again to come OVER the 6' fence... it's their fence so nothing we can do.... GOD do I wish we could move to the boonies but until DH finishes school we're stuck here... I have my animals, but every day stress over if I'll have them next month... 100% feel your pain on that one. Phew, sorry for that ramble there...

Here's hoping for animal loving, stress free homes in the future eh?
