I had to sleep with peafowl eggs on my belly. Will they hatch?

Looks like one pen was a mixed pen, or at least the mother was fertile from another color or pattern.

Thats a blue chicks, and no way it would have come from a pen of all one color or pattern.

Don't think its a dark pied either, could be split bs or pied.

I'm thinking the same too, deerman.

Kedreeva, it is a great thing to try making observations. I try to! See other thread about a BS pair.. Nobody told me about the well defined patterning on BS male chicks, that was all personal observation. Why secret though?

A thought- you know some colors are sex linked. Perhaps you could test out your idea on chicks from say, a cameo or purple male over blue hens. All daughters would be cameo or purple, all sons blue.. no guess work necessary. But, they could be a great test case for you to try your theory on, see if the pattern you see holds up between the known sexes?

That's what I thought when I just looked at it too.
Indian blue, possible white/pied split with the white flight feather.
definately isnt one from the color list given

lol I was being facetious about the secret aspect. I just haven't told anyone because it's a relatively new idea that I wanted to make a few more observations about before speaking.

As for the sex linked colors, that would be nice but I also want to see the female saddle patterns so I would need pictures from both genders. As I have zero capability to breed them, only have my two, and the breeding season is over, there's little chance I can do more than ask favors of the people raising them right now and wait for spring. Hoping to get some nice people to take pictures at exactly 2 weeks then.

No pair or peafowl is BS. Any peafowl is a good one

Anyways, I don't know too much about identifying color, but that looks like a pied to me. Congrats, too! We went through 3 batches of eggs until we finally got two on our 4th batch...and one died (we had to help it out of the egg and there was too much blood, long story).

Thank you! Please let me know what gender it is. If I am correct about the saddle feathers, it will be a girl

Guess we will find out!

Here's my girl at 2 weeks:

(and for reference if you wonder why I am insane, here's a pic of my boy's saddle feathers at 2 weeks... see the difference?)

yes , flight fearther will also help.....note that red tint ,rust color my guess 2nd pic male, first female....as they age females are darker than males.

still wouldn't sell them as sexed. Spalding blood will throw that off.

You are getting good. blue chicks can be sexed early, but to be 100% sure I wait till 2 months. For sure if sexing by pics, never know about lighting in pics.

@ Deerman: Those are old pics, those two are much older now and definitely the gender I posted them as. I was referencing back for the OP.
