When I bought my first and only new car ever, I knew exactly what I wanted and exactly what I wanted the payments to be.
First dealership, guy wants me to sign a paper up-front, agreeing that if they match the per month amount I want I'll HAVE to buy the car. I wouldn't sign, so he wouldn't show me the car. Said it wasn't worth his time to go through the whole pitch if I wasn't going to guarantee him a sale. I was stunned. I walked out.
Next dealership for the same kind of car, they were much better to work with. But when we got to the per month payment I wanted (after down payment and such) it turned out they'd added a YEAR to my payment plan!! I got up to walk out. They fussed and hemmed and hawed.
And then I got the price/payment I thought was perfect, plus 0% financing through the dealership. I was happy.
That car is paid for now, 2 years ahead of schedule.
Does that mean it's due to die any day now? Because I love my little Nissan Sentra stick shift!!
