I hate dogs....

this kind of thing drives my crazy! i live in the middle of a small town and people have no respect for your space nor do they teach their kids nor dogs manners either. now technically i shouldn't have my uh.. livestock but it would be nice if i could tether my goat out in my inlaws field, let my chickens free range with her when she gets an electric fence and not worry about one of the 10 dogs running around getting them. i understand if your dog escapes your fence every now and then like mine do but luckily i don't have to worry about a chicken massacre with mine because they know chickens are off limits! (hee hee not that anyone else in town has them) They stand their in the park next door and let their dogs poop and pee in my flower beds! They let their kids from the park come over and try and pet my 2 dogs and my bottle fed goat even though i tell them not to sick their fingers through the fence because the goat might "bite" since she is a bottle baby. People need to learn to take responsibility for what is their mistakes i think too many people have gotten used to just letting things slide. sorry for the rant but people who allow their dogs to kill and then don't keep them in control drive be into a territorial frenzy

I LOVE DOGS!

I have 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 32 chickens. I LOVE my dogs like they were my children!!! That said, if someone else had dogs that were coming onto MY property and attacking MY dogs, cats or chickens, those dogs would be DEAD DOGS.

I can only assume that the owners do not feel that they are their fur-babies like I feel about mine. If they did, they wouldn't let them run free into OTHER PEOPLE'S YARDS, where SOMETHING BAD might happen to them!!!

Hate people - not dogs.

hate irresponsible owners that result in dead dogs - not the dogs themselves....

How about a long buggie whip? Paintball gun? Cattle prod?

Anti freeze causes oxalic acid crystals to form in the kidneys and causes a slow painful death from kidney inflammation and failure. Anti freeze also has a sweet taste that animals like and you can potentially poison a lot more wildlife and neighborhood pets than just those dogs.

How about a compressed air powered bb gun? Know anybody that bow hunts deer?

I am very sorry your chicken was injured and have no objection what so ever to killing the canine perpetrators. Just not by anti freeze.

It has been my experiance too that if you do shoot the dog they will just get another one and let it roam free too.
There are never any simple solutions to the problem.

I don't know if this is possible in your situation, but if you leave a very dead animal out for your neighbors' dogs to roll in, they will be more careful about letting them run loose. Dead skunk works good.

No dog can resist this. Hopefully, the dogs will make it to their new sofa before they detect the problem.

Good Luck,

Rufus

The world needs more fine thinking like this! You sir are a brewer and a patriot.

And as someone who just gave one small evil dog her second decon of the day (death wallow is somewhere on OUR property, mind you), I can attest to how motivating it should be for the dogs' owners.
