i. hate. heartburn.

Prilosec OTC is much better than Zantac. Prilosec may take a day to start working but it stays with you and you dont have to take more at the end of the day like you do with Zantac. WalMart and CVS now have their own brand of Prilosec and it's much cheaper. I suffered daily for years and havent had any problems since I started Prilosec, sometimes I can even go every other day taking it.

watching Food Detective a few days back and saw that vinegar will naturally neutralize any stomach acid. Weird. I can't remember how you were supposed to take it though.

You have to use the natural unfiltered cider vinegar, usually bought at natural foodstores. It Has the mother in it. I usually add a teaspoon of honey to mine
2t before meals i think marrie

true about the vinegar, but it's more like it provides acid to digest foods that the stomach can't handle and that sit in there longer than they should.

Testing showed that was the problem I had - I didn't have enough acid to digest certain foods properly, which is why the acid-reducing meds made me so much more sick.

Another cause can be a lack of proper enzymes. Wobenzyme is a really great product.

Here is a link to learn more about enzymes: http://www.healthstores.com/wobenzym/the_wobenzyme_story.htm

O.K....I know it's going to sound weird, but here is my sure fire CURE (not treatment) for heartburn. 1)Eat as much of a quart of Dannon plain yogurt as you can hold. 2) Stand on your head.

Seriously. It works. If (like me) your headstanding days are behind you, lie down on a bed and let your torso dangle to the floor. My theory is that the probiotics heal the raw area. You just have to be careful to let it contact all the surfaces.

Yup that baking soda formula is what my husband drinks. It works for him. I have GERD so it's a little harder for me to get rid of mine. I just usually suffer until it's gone. A lot of Tums!!!!

Mine was severe GERD too... until I stopped eating beef, tomatoes and potatoes. The awful burning sometimes got so bad I would vomit.

Please go have it checked out. My MIL had heartburn that seemed to come and go. It ended up being her heart. The pain was from a clogged and leaking valve. She did not survive the surgery.
Don't mean to sound extreme, but a lot of women I know that ended up with heart problems said they just thought it was bad heartburn.
I hope it is just heartburn, and nothing serious.
