I HATE humidity...

You will have to play with the number of packets. I don't know how many you will need, or even how much each one will change the humidity in it.

Well, I moved the bator into my downstairs crawlspace (don't ask me why there's an electrical outlet in there but there is) and the humidity is now hovering at 40%. Alllll that effort just to get the humidity into the "normal" range, ha! The air cells have shrunk just the teeniest tiniest bit though, maybe with the salt it's doing its job even with the humidity readings so high. So all I can do is cross my fingers and hope for the best!

I wouldn't know, never had one before. :p It's under the stairs so it seemed like an odd place to put one!

for your own comfort and future reference, there are portable air conditioning, and dehumidifying units that do not go into windows now, and they actually work quite well, you just have to empty the tray where the water collects.

You can purchase those silica packs that they put in items to draw humidity away. Just be careful not to break them and remove them at lock down. Don't want chicks getting in them.

Or just go get a bag of 'crystal' cat litter, same exact stuff that is inside the desiccant packets but worlds cheaper if you don't have a free hookup for the packets... As said just make sure the chicks can't get at it and eat it...

Hmm...do you know what they're called or where to buy one? I hope they don't cost too much, I reeeaaally want one now!

You'd likely find them in the same place you find the window units, for a similar price, lowes or Home Depot maybe. Or walmart

Heh, for now the eggs take priority over my climatic comfort. After adding three silicone packets the humidity is down to 30% (yay!) and after just three days I can already see a difference in the air cell size (more yay!) Now I just gotta watch 'em like a hawk so they don't dry out too much before lockdown. Wish me luck.
