I Hate Meeces to Pieces!

Hey! Why don't we burn down the barn and the house! D'oh!

Just this past week I had a run-in with a rodent creature - it decided on Thanksgiving night that it needed a new home, and so crawled under the hood of my car, ripped out most of the hood insullation to make a nest (about the size of a basketall), chewed through a bunch of the wiring and hoses. All this between 9:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m.! It's going to cost over $1,000.00 to repair all the damage it did. I guess I should be thankful, my mechanic said he had someone bring in a BMW over the summer that needed $8,000.00 in repairs due to rats. Tried catching the little bugger, but so far no luck. Also gave the cats a stern lecture about not doing their job.

Thank you! i was going to say the same thing.

i can't burn everything they touched. They touched everything in my shed. Plastic bins are being pulled out and washed. Anything that can be thrown away will. And that clorox solution is going to have to be sprayed everywhere.

i'm probably not reading your post right, but you don't want to drop the rat zapper into a bucket of water. That wouldn't be a good thing. The zapper will kill them. It sends out an electrical charge when the mouse or rat first enters. Then it stops and does it again. i was reading that is because a rat is able to restart its heart, so the second jolt kills it for good.

It does say to not use the zapper outside, probably because of the moisture. i only used it outside (without success) in the summer when we were having problems with rats around the coops.

i understand how you feel about harming anything. i even feel bad for the mice i've caught. They are cute little things. i wish i could just hire the Pied Piper to lure them all away.

Hey...it could be worse: I have a bull elk trying to get in my chicken feed. And he's been succeeding. Sunday he hurled a 50 gallon trash can through the gate of one of my pens, and it gave way...giving my dogs access to my chickens....Needless to say...no more chickens alive in tha pen.
Anyways...if the mice are in like a building (mice always invade my rabbit/brooder shed) ...what I usually do is lock the cat in there (if I can keep the birds out). Or set mouse traps. They are irratating little buggers.
