I Hate Meeces to Pieces!

I had that happen once--I was using smooth peanut butter--switched to chunky and jammed chunks into the bait holder--they never got away with my peanut butter again.

Death to all rats, mice and squirrels!!!

whatever you do stay away from those new ortho no touch plastic traps. My hubby bought me some as I'm deathly allergic to handling mice/rats/rodents. We had heard chewing in the garage walls.... which isn't a good sign, so we baited traps and set them out and for two weeks NOTHING. wouldn't you know it, the minute there's an emergency there's a mouse in the trap that... well... was still alive and chewing a hole through the plastic.

ARG! I threw it in a five gallon bucket to deal with it later. Little thing had gotten out buy the time I got home, and was stuck in the five gallon bucket.
I'm all for the tin cats, caught one baby, then mama, and the rest of her babies! HA! We left the baby in the trap to call them all in, and it worked! never heard of the rat zapper... I'll have to look into it.

Slightly unrelated but when we bought our new house it had a terrible mold problem. My dad found a number of a place that cleans out the duct system. It was only $200, it might be worth looking into. I believe they used a large vacuum system to suck out all debris.

Much better than replacing everything.

You guys need kitties!

I have 3 "shop kitties" that were kittens on the property when we moved here. There isn't a rodent to be found around here. They watch the chickens, but have learned that chickens make scary noises...and they also have a sharp end! I wouldn't allow them around babies, but they are trustworthy around my hens.

And NO rodents!

Amyparrotflock, here is a link to the rat zapper at Lowes:
http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=234008-507-M240A&lpage=none

The only thing to watch out for, is that the on/off switch doesn't say "On" and "Off". There is a circle and then a straight line. i had no idea what those meant and ended up zapping myself. Circle means Off and straight line means the current is On.

And, i just bought some of those ortho no touch plastic traps. i wonder if i should just take them back. Those plastic spin traps don't work either. No one went in them. The entry hole is pretty small. i guess they preferred the luxurious spaciousness of the rat zapper.

So, i'm wondering if i caught them all. No one went into the trap last night. And then the bigger issue, how do i disinfect that shed? i may actually start a whole new thread on that.

i have reecenty had mice problems in my barn we have 8 to10 cats i also set three conventional victor snap traps with a large pedal and killed three deer mice i set 2 tip traps 1 rat trap and one box trap (still looking for my other live mouse trap

Never caught a darn thing in a trap, but once Tiger grew up we didn't have any more problems:

He's chick safe too, once they're big enough to be out of the brooder.

I have a problem with what I think is a squirrel that goes in my attic. Squirrels seem to be a really hard kill for a cat

Colleen,

Wow sounds like a lot of mice.. hope that's the last of them. I wouldnt recommend the sticky traps.. I think they are inhumane.
We found just the mice feet on them before.. the mouse chewed off his feet to get off. I'd stick with the zapper or the metal traps that
kill them right away. As far as cleaning.. I'm thinking a bleach solution would be best.... sheesh what a job for you though.. hope you get your Christmas stuff up soon!
