looong story, but a welsummer pullet escaped from her enclosure yesterday afternooon, and I couldn't catch her! So I went on and forgot about her... until 2:00am the next morning! Gah!
So I walked out with a flashlight and saw a flash of something flying off into the trees. I know it was an owl, nothing else can fly so quietly. Then I saw my welsummer hen almost ritualistically set upon on a nearby stump, headless.
Well, my big, fat old chihuahua followed me outside and to add insult to injury, the owl then swooped down like it was going after my little dog, to which the chihuahua responded by yapping at it and trying to chase after it as it silently flew back into the woods.
Judging by its size It was a great horned owl, which I hate with a passion.
I hate owls!!
