i have 3 black silkies 12 weeks old. How do I tell a hen from a rooster without the obvious answer wait until one crows?

Antadeta - By 12 weeks a silkie roo should be developing a
walnut on top of his head. Silkie roos are noticeable larger
than the hens too by this point.
You can also try asking it. Silkies can communicate telepathically
with their hosts.

lol j/k. She's bossy, but still really sweet and friendly. Best laying hen I've ever had too. Only silkie to ever attack me was a rooster I had for a while.....I've still got the scar. Tuffy gave him a whoopin though, it was funnnny

I suppose you don't want to hear "wait until one lays an egg" either right?

Ok, seriously lol. Silkie roosters will have a larger, longer comb and longer wattles. They're a bit taller and more slender and the tail will sometimes be more upright like a rooster's tail normally is. Sometimes roosters have more "normal" feathers in their tails than hens too.

Both are mine, not show quality. But you can still see the difference in wattle and comb size and tail (although tail isn't always the most reliable way, it's still a way....If it looks like a rooster and carries itself like a rooster, it probably is)

Here is one all together. Black silkie in the front is a roo, the two behind him are both hens. The funny looking B&W one is a Polish. And the really big one in the very back....Well, that's a dog

they have taken control; the dog only sleeps in the yard next to the silkie pen. i know that she is now in the conspiracy, they excercise their mind control as she slumbers. i'm fading fast, their goofy lumbering gait has me hypmotysed (sp) their "dumber than a bag of hammers" miens have lulled me into a false sense of security. i am afraid that i am lost to the silky conspiracy; alas, alas the gooffy little finger painters have me hook line and sinker.
