Mine just stare at me when the water freezes. I have about 60 quail in the flight pen and all of them just look when the water freezes. If one of them is icedover they will not touch the others.

HATE TO BURST YOUR BUBBLE BUBBA, 19 DEGREES IN BROOKSVILLE FL LAST NIGHT... WE'RE BREAKIN' ICE TOO. THE ONLY REASON WE DONT USUALLY GET SNOW HERE--- ITS OUR DRY SEASON, NO PRECIPITATION = NO RAIN OR SNOW

Congrats!

We've had frozen waterers every day for over a week. 14* Mon night....got up Tue AM to eggs laid overnight, cracked and frozen!

This is NC. We'll usually have a very cold snap or two during Winter, but not this early. We're currently getting our 2nd snow in Dec. I hope this isn't a sign of a terrible Winter.

Hey JJMR - We're neighbors. And yes, remember that day last year when it was raining and we had sleet and snow mixed? It didn't lay, of course, but cold is cold! Anything under 30 degrees is just plain cold, IMHO.

Best time of the year to go hiking. After the holidays, into the cats we'll go. Nothing like being on top of a mountain, only tracks you see are yours and your better half. The quietness after a snow storm, is like the darkness in Howe Caverns. We have a nice little stove I pack in, hot food etc. 1 bottle on the inside to keep liquid, extra on the outside, shall I say it becomes crunchy sometimes.
Enjoy your holidays

quercus21, that truly sounds very serene. I however am a TRUE Floridian. Conceived here, born here, raised here, lived here all my life. The only snow I have ever seen is on TV, the internet or the VERY rare blue moon when we have a very light flurry that melts before it reaches the ground. That has happened only once in my nearly 40 years. The only snow that I wish to see is the frost in my freezer! I just don't do well in anything less than 60 degrees. This going out to chip ice out of my waterers is literally for the birds!!!! You probably couldn't get me out there otherwise. Those of you that have to deal with snow and even colder temps than we have here are truly remarkable. I know I couldn't do it.
