I have a 55 gal sized trash bag full of shredded office paper. Was thinking of using that. Would it work to cover them? It should dontcha’ think?

X2, I use carrots...potatoes, cucumbers, tomatoes all mold to quickly.the person I bought mealworms from, actually just used chicken crumbles to feed the mealworms...pretty easy. I also used oatmeal too, when convenient.
As I recall, you are in an arid environment. I was able to use a single carrot, split lengthwise for moisture - replace about 1x per week. However, you may be able to use a cut apple or potato in addition to carrot. The apple and potato would be more likely to mold for me since I live in a more humid area, but the carrot just dried out and never turned bad.
