That is interesting never heard of this before.Beaks and legs will bleach out the longer a hen produces eggs, so color needs to return to the body to show she has recovered from laying during the molting period. Combs and Wattles will enlarge and redden when they are getting close to laying or are currently laying, otherwise the color fades and the comb shrinks and becomes dull when they aren't laying.
