I have about 18 BCM, 5Welsummers, 30 RIR's, 30 Delaware, 30 some Jersey Giant mixes and some pure Jersey Giants, some Samaras and some game fowl along with 14 Eater Eggers. They came mostly from people here on BYC. I got some nice RIR's, BCM's and Welsummers from Bargain ( Nancy ), Pasofinofarms 13 very nice BCM, Evermore Ranch Jersey Giant mixes ( They were some very nicely colored egg mixes ), Delaware 30 and they were very nice and very large from Kryptoniteqhs, Very nice RIR's from bluestarfarms 9 (eggbid) and from Riodg (eggbid) some nice mixed color Easter Eggers eggs.
The only problem I had was some cold weather snuck in on me between deliveries. We had 5.5 inches of snow here in Eastern N.C. on that late Friday night and that Saturday morning. The eggs were held for me at the post office and the driver brought then to me straight from the post office. I checked the temp inside the three boxes that were delievered on Saturday and the inside temp was around 45 degrees. The eggs seemed fine when I candeled a few looking for cracks and such. No cracks really found at the time. I would like to say one other thing. On Friday morning the post office delivered the package from Bargain it contained the BCM, Welsummers and RIR's from Nancy. She can really pack a box. The post office had almost totally destroyed a whole corner of her priority box. It looked like a gorillia had taken the package and thrown a cinder block against it. I don't know how any eggs surived but I only lost 4 RIR eggs that I can tell. The BCM and Welsummers were untouched it looked like. I don't know how badly shaken the surviving eggs were but, I let them sit for 24 hours before messing with them and putting them in the incubator. I pray that they will make it. Nancy packs things very well. I had very few eggs that got broken in any of the packages so I highly recomend any of the above people. They also shipped the packages out quickly.
I have all the eggs in the incubators now and I started them all on Sunday so in about 21 days we will see if I am over run with chicks or did cold weather and rough package handeling catch up with me. I also hope that the Good Lord helps lift me up with this leg pain and Diabeties problems. The leg and foot pain are with me almost always but with the doctors help and the Good Lord's help I will get by. It is also with the help of my friends and loved ones that I make it from day to day. With out them and the Lord I am no where. Thanks to all and I will try to update this incubation period. I am using a Hovabator and a homemade ice chest cooler the large heavy type not the foam cooler type. They all have fans and they are all holding nicely. I wish I knwe how to post pictures on here. Take care to all and good incubating. Later, Dave
