thanks to everyone who saved me yesterday from my waves of anxiety with my first hatch.

I have 2 chicks this morning who look strong and healthy and 3 more eggs that show little cracks and holes. one has a little beak poking through. one was just as it was yesterday with no further development or movement so I'm not sure if that one is going to make it...what do you think?
and a new crack in another egg.
I'm so pleased that I have live babies from my home made incubator! I have learned a few things to change for the next hatch. For example the rack I used to hold the eggs, doesn't work so well for the chicks as the two this morning were stuck between the side of it and the wall and really wedged there. I moved them into a nice warm brooder and they are doing well now.

thanks again for everyone's kind help

and I'll post pictures later today.

cheers

Oh and about the chick- has it pipped through the shell and has not zipped? I would help it out, you must be very careful though. I use small cosmetic scissors to gently peel away the shell starting where the pip is, being careful to only remove the membrane if you see there are no veins in it. It is a very delicate process, i will try to find a thread about it on here.

i can hear it a bit but the hole hasn't changed
