she was scared of a predator and ran far away to a pond near my house. The pond is relatively large but has an island in the middle the size of 2 large houses. We have been circling the island looking and listening for her and shaking food. we even brought out the other duck to call for her. does anyone know how I could get her back?

Sorry to hear that. The quacking from your other duck should help her to quack back.
Hopefully you find her soon.
do you know if she could fly away? she was a jumbo pekin and was preety heavy. we never saw her get off the ground much. she flapped her wings and could go up a foot with running but nothing else. but I guess she could've flown away. I dont know. The temperatures in my area have been getting pretty cold at night. mid 40s but the other one doesnt seem to mind. so i dont think that she flew south but she couldve if she wanted to. yesterday we even went outside on a kayak to shook around a bag of mealworms and looked for her.

Any people live close by that she may have waddled there? If she didn't make it to the pond I'm thinking a predator may have gotten her. Pekins have no way to protect themselves and they cannot fly.
Do you know for sure she ran away from a predator? what was the predator?

Thanks for the help. we found her but a hawk/fox found her first. she was lying dead on a rock
