I need advice on how to introduce my 5 new Rhode Island hens that are about 9 weeks old now, to my current flock. I worried there will be some little spats but I don’t want any of my chickens severely injured or my ducks. Cause my female hen currently is kind of a little jerk to my female duck, may be because they’re all sexually mature now and hormones are high. So when and how do I introduce my baby reds to the flock.....

Hello, thanks for joining us!

If you do a search, you'll find info on the look, don't touch method for introducing new birds to a flock. That's worked well for me and helps the birds to grow accustomed to each other.

Best wishes!

Thanks so much! So i have a totally separate coop that I’ve built that I have been raising my reds in and when the weather is nice I haul it out to my other coop and set it beside it and allow them to see each other and interact through the fencing but no contact, they all seem interested in each other and I do that weekly a couple times but I guess I’m just nervous to fully put them in together cause they’re still only a few months old, and my ducks are about twice their size. But I’ll continue with what I’m doing now and feathers crossed everyone is nice. 🤪
