Got it now, eggs last awhile in the fridge not exactly how long though. The eggs you buy at the store are usually about a month old when you buy them, there is a date stamp on the cartons.

Or even longer. I store up late summer/early fall eggs (so around late August, early Sept depending on how my supply looks) to get through the winter, optimally enough to cover through Feb.
That's right. They certainly don't go "bad" after 3 months although compared to a fresh egg the yolk may not stand up quite so high in the pan and the white may be a little thinner. They're still perfectly safe to eat for some time after the "best if eaten by" date. Thanks for pointing that out, rosemary.

That gives me an idea to do a little experimental research. I'm going to do some comparison on some eggs by date. I'll take photographs and post my findings. It will be a long-term, perhaps 6-month project, but I will write an article when I'm done.
