I have a digging problem

They’re hot and want to dust bathe. Personally, I don’t have a great dust bathing area in my coops,, but they do free range pretty much daily. Also I provide deep shade and cold fresh water during the hot days. :)

Nope, not necessarily hot or dust bathing, they just like to dig....all year around.

^ This. My diggers dig regardless if cold or hot (and they do have a dust bath that they use). I've placed fallen branches at the bottom edge of some of the run fencing to keep them from making their way under the apron...

Put boards or something similar down in the corners, so they can only dig so far, or not at all. I may be putting hardware cloth down around my new outbuilding lattice, so the chickens and dogs can't get under there any longer. I hate to, because they love to shelter and dust bathe under there so much, but it causes too many problems and makes the area look bad. After and before pics. Still in progress, rain today.
