At the moment I have three chicks that hatched four days ago. One of my hens is quite old and I really wanted to keep one of her offspring so I incubated a few chicks. Three hatched, but I want to sell two and keep just the one as I don't have space for all three. But whenever I take the two I'm wanting to sell out of the brooder the other chick chirps like crazy. :barnie so I have no idea what to do. I either sell just one chick and keep two, but then the one on its own will get lonely; or I sell the two and keep the one, but will it become depressed and want it's friends back??
I have three broody hens at the moment. One of them has been broody 5 times before, but she has 2 chicks both 3weeks old. Would she accept the chick I want to keep? She once accepted 4 week old chicks but hadn't had any other chicks at that moment.
Please help, advice and other suggestions strongly appreciated!!!

Could you give the chick you want to keep to a broody that doesn't have chicks?
I would think the 3 week olds would run over littler chicks (literally). And a single chicken is a lonely chicken...

I would keep all 3 and sell 2 later or keep 2 and sell 1 later.

I would not keep a single chick unless I was putting it with a hen with no chicks.

i wouldn't keep a single either. way too much cheeping. they will be happier and 2 extra chicks aren't going to take up that much more space currently.

I have a broody who is sat on eggs at the moment she's been broody for over 3 weeks now. Would she accept a chick that is 4 days old though? Thanks!
