She is not showing distress when I manipulate her legs. The suddenness of this is what confounds me.Slipped tendon? Broken leg? Sprain?
Ebony, I was cleaning her vent after a cage poop and noticed this. See how her right leg is dangling?Your rooster *could*, but if he did, you can bet that it was not intentional. I'm more inclined to think she came off the perch or a branch in a bad way.
A vet does not appear to be an option, either totally booked or don't see chickens.Some sort of injury. Is a vet an option? Might want an X-ray to determine if it's muscle, tendon, ligament or bone.
I have seen a slipped tendon cause that sort of thing in freshly hatched chicks, where they hold their leg back like that, but a break at the pelvis/femur could cause that too.
Is the area hot to the touch (hotter than her 'good' leg)?
Poor girl. That looks painful.
