I have a lame hen and can not figure out the problem.

Not personally, but... have heard that others have... at least for slipped tendon. Search the forum here for slipped tendons.
Ebony, I was able to connect with a bird rescue guy and he found the issue. She badly bruised the top of her thigh bone. The difference between right and left is obvious. He thinks she will recover with time.

Well, I had to put her down. 12 days, no recovery at all, almost like her legs were semi paralyzed the whole time, continued to lay on her side, which meant her poop couldn't pass past her feathers which brought the attention of flies which brought maggots. I bathed her a dozen times, cuddled her in my lap, she made the sweetest trills.

Five days ago she began not eating or drinking. She lost weight quickly, still had some poops, but was simply not recovering or eating.

What bothers me is her brain seemed fine. She was aware, clear eyed, and enjoyed my company, I'd rub her neck and she would softly fall asleep.

But the non recovery coupled with the constant upkeep of her feval matter to avoid flies and maggots became too much. Had she recovered or shown recovering, I wouldn't have done it, but five days without food or water, I suspected her organs would begin to fail and her misery would increase.

She was a sweet hen. Yes, I buried her. And marked her spot.

I don't enjoy this side of animal husbandry but it makes the other side more special. The fragility and beauty of life is pronounced at these moments.

Sweet Gallina

I talked to a bird specialist and his suspicion was she had been bit by a brown recluse or black widow which live here too which would explain the semi paralysis and perhaps the slow devolution of her appetite.

I am so very sorry! How heartbreaking! So sorry she was not able to recover. I don't see anything more you could have done. I'd have probably made the same choice, if it helps at all. She had the best life you could possibly give her.
