So i have a hen she just comencrd laying and i want to know why her eggs are actually soft? Now i know it could be no calcium but then if i buy a rooster and he mates w her will her eggs be normal

Tums? Like the anti acid?Oyster shells, egg shells aren't enough.
If you have tums crush some up and mix with her feed until you can get some oyster shell.![]()

ohhhhh okayDefinately add oyster shell but girls starting to lay often take a while to get themselves sorted out and laying properly. I'm guessing yes on the Tums![]()
Only four and one was firm im giving her grower and broiler feedIf you feed them a good quality layer feed, nothing more should be needed. They should firm up on their own. How many have they laid so far?
But if you are feeding them anything like flock raiser, or chick starter, or anything with lesser calcium, you will likely need to supplement more calcium.
