If they are healthy they will mate just about anywhere. Also consider the age of any females you have with him. Cockerels will most times be ready long before pullets are, so if you have young pullets you will be waiting on them, not the male. Actually no, ihave one bantam and and breed and some egg laying chicks wiwich I haven't sexedIf your girls decide to go broody they will most likely try to lay and hatch the eggs in one of their nesting boxes.
