I gave him a couple rounds of the sugar water like a PP said and made sure he's close enough to food and the regular water. He wants to eat so that's good. And I just saw him take a few steps before he fell over so that's progress!
This is the only picture I have of the setup, right after I put them all in there.Pasty butt is caused by stress. There are many things that can stress a young chick. The most common sources of stress are overheating or chilling. Pics of your setup would be helpful.
Yes it is moved over to the side now. It's in the garage and I'm in Manitoba so it's still cold outside. Everyone is seemingly comfortable though. The lamp is on a pulley so it's been moved up to adjust the heat.Could you move it so that only one end is heated? With the lamp in the middle, you're heating too much space. You only need one small area heated. The rest of the brooder should be as near room temp as possible. Plastic, high sided brooders tend to really absorb the heat producing an oven effect.
