Bother!

Miss Prissy - I'm so sorry to hear of all the losses but I'm thankful you opened the box even if only one survives.

I've lost count, did the two that were in the pic drinking make it? They looked so good.

I would be inclined to ship the box of dead chicks right back to MM. Maybe wrap it in brown shipping paper, unmarked, stick a label on it and mail it anonymous. Let someone there open a box of death with a stench. Put a note in the box on top of the 98? dead chicks that says "Next time use a tracking number". In the meantime, get a full refund.

Our local P.O. is great and do call when my chicks have arrived and I'm sure if I had called one of them and asked them to open a box and give them water they would have because for no other reason, they have to look at us every day and live in this small town with us. But the woman in Jackson that we spoke to on a hot July refused to open the box and give them water - claimed it was against the rules but she would keep them on her desk, instead of the hot box of a truck, till the next day when they would be shipped the remaining 3 hours to here.

The problem with shipping anything Express anymore is that the P.O. rarely seems to guarantee Express anymore. I can't tell you how many packages I've sent, just regular mail packages not chicks, and no matter what the zip code, I'm told "Express isn't guaranteed to that zip code." I was getting this response even when I lived in Covington which is a major town - I definitely get it now that I live in a one stop sign town. I remember asking the postal clerk once "Just which zip codes do you still guarantee express to?" We had to quit using the USPS for shipping software and other business items when the customer needed it the next day and had to use Fed Ex instead. Of course, I understand they won't ship chicks - so what's a person to do?

In the meantime, I don't think I will ever again order live chicks - it's just too nerve wracking.

So sorry for your loss.

Then they could have called you and asked if they could open and care for the peepers!

Exactly! But that all goes back to my previous post. No compassion. People simply do not care anymore.

I agree!!!! No one cares anymore. As long as they can get by and not get in trouble, they keep theirs mouths shut. I am so upset right now at my own issues that this just really ticks me off big time. The audacity of some people. Oh, if you could only hear me when I do this

MissP, I am so sorry, so so sorry. I was trying to be positive about all this but this is just down right carelessness. Meyer Hatchery sent me an email today stating they had 20% off the broilers they had, but I think they may be closed. You can tyr them though. Ours were hatched on a Monday and we recieved them on a Wed.

Again I am so sorry.

coming your way.

I got the same email, and just about ordered a couple hundred, but I need at least another 2-3 weeks before I am ready fo them. It's a pretty good deal though

I am so sorry about your chicks. I can not believe MM are not concern.

They were so good a couple years ago when Fed ex didn't leave the eggs with the neighbors and it was a Friday and wouldn't be delivered until Monday and it was cold. MM said if they got chilled they wouldn't hatch so they sent me more eggs.

I ordered mine from Moyers in PA and I'm in AR and they told me they would be here 1 to 3 days probably closer to 3 days but they came in 2 days. They were so loud when I walked in the PO they were glad for me to pick them up ASAP.

I hope they will reimburse you or replace the chicks.

I was reimbursed.

No mtter the money.

The PO left those chicks to die.

My phone number was all over that box and someone somewhere could have called saturday when they were not at my PO.

I am so sorry Miss Prissy. Words cannot convey enough comfort. Just know everyone posting wishes we could just erase this experience and make it right by you and the poor chicks.

I had not live chicks but baby orchids plants delivered EXPRESS last November. Big labels all over "HOLD AT PO FOR PICKUP" in addition to my phone number. Seems as if my delivery person could not read at the PO or at my rural box. She shoved them inside around 9am and they sat outside and froze by the time I got home from work and checked mail about 6 pm. I was so angry. The shipping alone was over 60.00 in addition to the money I paid for the plants themselves. I filed a claim with the PO...that was a joke. After a MONTH they said I paid too much for shipping, they paid me a whole 4.85 cents. I had had many issues with other things being delivered or not delivered...that left me speechless, and that never happens.

Sooooo...now I go out of my may to have anything delivered any other way that by USPS. I'll pay the extra, I do not care.

I know my experience is nothing compared to what happened to you, just fedup with the way USPS has messed things up in the past but the frozen orchids just ground my gears.

I am so sorry for your babies. The last time I ordered from Ideal, the same thing happened. I constantly called Ideal, our local post office, and the USPS hub in G'ville. Finally, they arrived in G'ville on Friday morning, but they (the hub) told me they would not deliver to us locally until Monday. At that time, the shipment was already 2 days late.

Immediately, I loaded up my kids and blazed a trail (took me 1 1/2 hours) to Gainesville. We lost a few, but certainly if we had waited all would have died!!! Burns me up!!

Like you said, box clearly marked with contact numbers, Live Animals, and the peeping!!
